Now, I don’t know about you girl, but I was going crazy sitting at home not having a job and living off my husband’s paycheck.
Not everyone gets a work permit immediately, but at some point in time, when you get that opportunity, I want you to be fully prepared, equipped and ready to join the workforce. I scanned, researched and spoke to a lot of Desi Americans before I could decide my options of employability in the US.

This is my third year living in the US and I feel like the American life is getting on to me. I remember how I would crib about every lil thing when I was really new to the US and I missed everything about my home country. The people were not the same, American culture and etiquettes were different, it was difficult to make and even the Indian food tasted different! Three years later, I have greater appreciation for living in country that values the needs, wants and demands of their people.

Majority of the times Desi women, HAVE to move to the US, because umm you don’t have a choice. I mean sure, you can do a long-distance marriage, as our previous generation did. But, do you really wanna stay away from your spouse for 11 outta 12 months? So one of us has to move. Now, if someone is in the US with a work permit and a decent job, there’s no way they’re looking to move back to one of our “developing countries”. And if there’s one thing you should know about Desi families – their ultimate dream is for their kids to move to the West.
